Slitting & Re-Reeling (Re-Winding)

Unlike Lathe Slitting, rewind slitting as the name suggests is the process of unwinding a master roll of media which then passes through blades to cut the media into narrower widths and rewinds onto cores so that it can be used for specific applications.

Rewind Slitting can employ different cutting methods to suit the media type:

• Razor-cut slitting uses razor blades positioned at stationary intervals across the machine. The media is pulled through the stationary blades, making precise, clean cuts. Razor slitting is best suited for thin films.
• Shear Slitting uses two rotary knives that function in the same way as a pair of scissors. The media is cut at the junction of the two sharp edges and is ideal for paper, foil, and heavier gauge media.
